SCOTUS Decision on Obamacare Means GOP Victories in November

Young Republicans chairman expects GOP activists to storm the polls this election

WARRENTON, Virginia – Fauquier County Young Republicans (FCYRs) Chairman Adam Cassandra, who was on the steps of the Supreme Court on Thursday when the Court’s decision on Obamacare was announced, said that while the outcome of the case was not what Republicans were hoping for, he expects the decision to motivate GOP activists for the elections this November.

“There is no doubt that the Supreme Court’s decision today is a constitutional travesty, and a setback for those of us who fight for individual liberty and freedom. Though ruling that the federal government cannot force U.S. citizens to purchase goods under the Commerce Clause, the Court opened the door for unlimited attacks on the personal wealth and liberty of the American people today by allowing Congress to levy taxes based on our personal decisions and behavior.

“But what I saw today outside of the Supreme Court gives me great hope for this November. Conservatives, Republicans, Tea Partiers, pro-life activists, and many others opposed to this unconstitutional, unjust tyranny imposed on us by President Obama and the Democrat Party were clear in stating that to protect our sovereign freedom, the rule of law, and the future of our great republic, President Obama and the Democrats must not be re-elected. This is the message that will be heard across the country in the coming months.

“I’m looking forward to a Republican surge at the polls that will turn Virginia red in 2012, and secure GOP majorities in the House and Senate. If we want to pass to our children a free and prosperous nation, we need President Mitt Romney, Senator George Allen, Representative Robert Hurt, and Representative Rob Wittman in office to repeal Obamacare once and for all.”

About the FCYRs: The Fauquier County Young Republicans consists of Virginia voters 18-40 years old dedicated to electing Republicans to office and to promoting the Republican principles of a limited constitutional government, individual liberty and responsibility, free market capitalism, traditional values, and a strong national defense.
